01 - Design, Budget and Permitting
We insist on taking our clients through a relatively intense planning and design phase, by the end of which all parties will understand the construction budget and if permitting is required. We work hand in hand with local architects (if needed for permitting) and cabinetry design studios right here in Durango, CO. In addition, we provide in-house CAD drawings to supplement any design and construction details that still require our attention. This allows us to estimate material and labor costs very thoroughly. Our design phase is more labor intensive and expensive than most remodeling companies and we make no apologies for that. It is absolutely worth it and pays dividends during the construction phase.
02 - Construction
This is where things happen and get noisy. Once the design phase is complete and permits are in hand, we throw ourselves into the remodel process with genuine care, intensity, and attention detail. Two decades in the industry, both in remodels and new home builds, has taught us that remodels are usually much more difficult because our clients are often living on site! Daily cleanliness and ongoing creativity in how spaces are protected, sealed off, and finished is everything. We work closely with our clients to ensure they feel safe throughout the process and actually enjoy this phase rather than dread it. We also purposefully restrict how many remodels we actively have on our schedule to ensure that we can be on site as much as humanly possible.
03 - Warranty and Walk-through
We believe that this is the most underrated stage in the remodel process. We are not finished after the construction phase is “complete”. Once we’ve reached the end of the construction phase and a professional cleaning of the space is finished, we inspect every aspect of the work completed. This includes a walk-through of the entire project with Arnica Remodel owner Eric and the homeowner. We checkoff literally hundreds of items on our Final Walkthrough Document, testing everything from the functionality of new light switches to the performance of door and cabinet hardware and much, much more. But wait! We’re still not done. Two more walkthroughs remain, one to be completed 30 days after “completion” of all items on the initial walkthrough, and another 9 months after completion of this second walkthrough. This gives us the opportunity to work out any kinks on the project and follow up on any issues that need to be addressed.
